Dear Topaz Families,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I hope that you have had an enjoyable summer and relaxed with loved ones. I am delighted to welcome back all our returning families and students, as well as offer a special greeting to all of our new families.
Our Topaz community is truly one of a kind and the partnership with our families is very crucial to providing your child the best educational experience. We value, appreciate, and seek out your involvement and collaboration for the success of your child. We will continue to provide opportunities for parents to participate in ELAC, SSC, Coffee with the Principal, PTA, Back to School Night, Open House, and many more events this year for parent involvement.
We are asking all parents to help us ensure the regular, on-time attendance of their children at school. This year we will focus on attendance closely and will be monitoring to help support your child’s academic achievements, as research has shown that regular attendance is vital for the success of children in school and that even two absences a month can negatively affect your child’s learning. California law states that absences are excused only if the child is ill or there is an excuse which meets the requirements of the California Education Code Section 48205. Our district’s policy is that we may require verification of absences due to illness or quarantine, if your child has missed school for three consecutive days.
Our goal is to have all children present in school every day and on time. Please be aware that going “out of town” when school is in session with your child is an unexcused absence. As our partner in your child’s education, it is important to note, even excused absences that cause your child to miss significant amounts of school can cause your child to fall behind in class. Full-day absences are not only the cause for students to fall behind, tardies and truancies also impact your students learning; not to mention any time someone walks into a class late, they interrupt every students’ learning.
In addition to your child’s absences and tardies, we are also monitoring early pick up. It is very important for your child to be there at the end of the day as the teachers continue to teach up until the end of the school day, and your child misses out on important information.
I look forward to working with you in a meaningful partnership for your child. I look forward to developing incentives regularly for students with perfect attendance. We will work very hard with you to ensure that your child receives the best education possible. We are depending on you, and want to thank you for entrusting us with your child.

¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2023-2024! Espero que hayan tenido un verano agradable y relajado con sus seres queridos. Estoy encantada de dar la bienvenida a todas nuestras familias y estudiantes que regresan, así como también ofrecer un saludo especial a todas nuestras nuevas familias.
Nuestra comunidad Topaz es realmente única y la asociación con nuestras familias es muy importante para brindarle a su hijo la mejor experiencia educativa. Valoramos, apreciamos y buscamos su participación y colaboración para el éxito de su hijo. Continuaremos brindando oportunidades para que los padres participen en ELAC, SSC, Café con el Director, PTA, Noche de Regreso a la Escuela, Casa Abierta y muchos más eventos este año para la participación de los padres.
Estamos pidiendo a todos los padres que nos ayuden a garantizar la asistencia regular y puntual de sus hijos a la escuela. Este año nos centraremos de cerca en la asistencia y estaremos monitoreando para ayudar a apoyar los logros académicos de su hijo, ya que la investigación ha demostrado que la asistencia regular es vital para el éxito de los niños en la escuela y que incluso dos ausencias al mes pueden afectar negativamente el aprendizaje de su hijo. La ley de California establece que las ausencias se justifican solo si el niño está enfermo o si existe una excusa que cumpla con los requisitos de la Sección 48205 del Código de Educación de California. La política de nuestro distrito es que podemos solicitar la verificación de ausencias debido a enfermedad o cuarentena, si su ha faltado a la escuela durante tres días consecutivos.
Nuestro objetivo es que todos los niños estén presentes en la escuela todos los días y a tiempo. Espero trabajar con usted en una asociación significativa para su hijo. Espero desarrollar incentivos regularmente para los estudiantes con asistencia perfecta.
